It is my pleasure to write a letter of reference for Mary Carrier. My husband and I were introduced to Mary through a friend who had recently purchased her first home with Mary’s help. As first-time homebuyers ourselves, we were looking for someone to assist us in this rather overwhelming task. We had met several other agents, all of whom were more interested in how quickly we wanted to buy and how much we were looking to spend than in what we were actually looking for in a home. Mary took the time to educate us on the purchase process and to really understand what it was that we were looking for. At no time did we feel rushed into making an offer on a home — in fact, she took the time to point out the negatives of houses we saw with her, which we needed, as we could quickly find a long list of things we liked about almost every home.

When we finally found a house that suited our needs, the true value of Mary’s counsel became very clear. Her negotiation skills allowed us to stay within our budget during a time when bidding wars in the Toronto market were commonplace, and she kept us informed at every step to ensure that we were comfortable with what was happening. Once the offer was signed, her involvement did not end. She walked us through what we needed to do next, assisted us in arranging a home inspection, and gave us referrals to lawyers, insurance and mortgage brokers, and contractors. Knowing that Mary was there for a phone call whenever a question came up — no matter how trivial — was extremely reassuring.

Today it is our pleasure to call Mary Carrier not only our real estate agent but a friend. We would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.
